Not a huge surprise that the best conference in football has perhaps the best all-conference team.  The athleticism listed below is enough to make Al Davis’ head explode.  That’s probably going to happen soon anyway, but hey, if this helps…

Here’s a quick breakdown.  In the shocker of the century the Gators lead all teams with eight players.  They’ve got three on offense, four on defense, and of course Brandon James returning kicks.  In an actual jaw-dropper, Tennessee finishes second with four all-stars.  Their defense should be among the best if they can adapt to Monte Kiffin’s system.  Ole Miss and Alabama should be strong on both lines, with representitives on both.  Kentucky and LSU got their own duos recognized.  And the teams that missed out entirely?  Mississippi State, Auburn, and South Carolina.  Maybe they’ll play well as a team.

Anyway, be sure to check out the All-SEC team.  And before you disagree with my picks, check out the video highlight evidence for nearly every member.  Nothing like YouTube to back up an opinion.

QB:  Tim Tebow, Florida, 6-03 235

Telling Stat:  30-4 TD-INT ratio in 2008

Video Evidence:  Vintage Tebow, Stupid Sooners.  And of course this.  And a lesser known highlight.

RB:  Charles Scott, LSU, 5-11 233

Telling Stat:  18 rushing TDs

Video Evidence:  Hard to believe this guy weighs 233 pounds when he runs like this.

RB:  Jeff Demps, Florida, 5-08 176

Telling Stat:  7.8 yards per carry

Video Evidence:  I think it’s safe to call Demps a fast running back.

WR:  Julio Jones, Alabama, 6-04 210

Telling Stat:  924 receiving yards as a freshman

Video Evidence:  I think it’s safe to call Jones a strong receiver.

WR:  AJ Green, Georgia, 6-04 190

Telling Stat:  8 receiving TDs as a freshman

Video Evidence:  Yeah it’s high school, but could you do this in 12th grade?

TE:  Aaron Hernandez, Florida, 6-03 255

Telling Stat:  5 receiving TDs

Video Evidence:  Just some random highlights…but pretty impressive for a freshman.

OT:  Ciron Black, LSU, 6-05 314

Interesting Fact:  Has started or played in 40 consecutive games for LSU

OT:  John Jerry, Ole Miss, 6-05 350

Interesting Fact:  Brother of former Ole Miss DT Peria Jerry and cousin of former Ole Miss S Jamarca Sanford

OG:  Mike Johnson, Alabama, 6-06 305

Interesting Fact:  Won Alabama’s Unsung Hero Award for his work during the 2007 season

OG:  Mitch Petrus, Arkansas, 6-04 315

Interesting Fact:  Was a fullback before moving to guard before the 2007 season

C:  Josh McNeil, Tennessee, 6-04 290

Interesting Fact:  Recorded well over 200 pancake blocks in high school.

DE:  Carlos Dunlap, Florida, 6-06 286

Telling Stat:  9 sacks

Video Evidence:  The best I can find is a dance clip.  If you’re into that sort of thing.

DE:  Greg Hardy, Ole Miss, 6-04 265

Telling Stat:  Averages over one sack per game over the last two seasons

Video Evidence:  Watch Hardy help Ole Miss nearly pull off the upset of Alabama

DT:  Terrence Cody, Alabama, 6-05 365

Telling Stat:  More of a fact, but how about the fact that he had to lose almost 40 pounds to get to 365

Video Evidence:  Can Terrence Cody do a backflip?  I don’t know, but that reporter is pretty hot.

DT:  Dan Williams, Tennessee, 6-03 318

Telling Stat:  48 tackles and 8.5 TFL despite playing injured

Video Evidence:  Watch him block a crucial overtime field goal against Kentucky

LB:  Brandon Spikes, Florida, 6-03 245

Telling Stat:  4 interceptions including 2 returned for TDs

Video Evidence:  Knowshon Moreno gets flattened…by Brandon Spikes

LB:  Micah Johnson, Kentucky, 6-02 250

Telling Stat:  87 tackles despite battling injury

Video Evidence:  Apparently Johnson only needs one hand to make a tackle

LB:  Rennie Curran, Georgia, 5-11 222

Telling Stat:  115 Tackles and 3 sacks as a sophomore

Video Evidence:  Here are just a few reasons that I added him to the team over Rico McCoy.

CB:  Trevard Lindley, Kentucky, 6-00 174

Telling Stat:  28 consecutive starts

Video Evidence:  I know, I couldn’t believe that the awesomeness that is YouTube didn’t have a clip either.

CB:  Joe Haden, Florida, 5-11 185

Telling Stat:  77 tackles and 3 INTs

Video Evidence:  Check out the wheels after this SEC Championship pick.

SS:  Eric Berry, Tennessee, 5-11 195

Telling Stat:  Name something.  We’ll go with 12 INTs over only two years in college

Video Evidence:  Poor Knowshon.  Watch Berry erase Moreno and make a few moves after the pick.

FS:  Major Wright, Florida, 6-00 205

Telling Stat:  The total of the medical bill Manny Johnson received after Wright did this.  That counts as his video

RET:  Brandon James, 5-07 186, Florida

Telling Stat:  18.1 yard punt return average

Video Evidence:  Any wonder why he won the return job?

K:  Joshua Shene, 5-08 170, Ole Miss

P:  Brett Upson, 5-10 185, Vanderbilt

(This video’s not that great but it’s the best they had)

Yeah, I’m shocked you don’t have Renne on there.
