Do you see a chance of the Rams trading the 2nd overall pick to Philly for there 2 first round picks? If so do you see there helping the rams or hurting the rams?

Uncle Brett (UB) January 31, 2009 at 8:28 AM

Hey Hunt, the boys from the SEC concur! Call my sister, get my number, and give me a call.

Paul Noga February 4, 2009 at 4:24 AM

Good draft site. I am a Chargers fan and I feel you missed the needs. The right side of the O line is a disaster and with RG Goff leaving, it is the number 1 priority. Either a supermotivated RG or RT is a must!!! Number 2 is strength up the D middle with either a NT or MLB. Unfortunately the Chargers gave away their number 2 pick. Possible AJ Smith will trade down with a team like the Eagles (pick number 29) and get their number 2. That way they could get a good MLB at #29 and a RG in the 2nd round.

Let me say, the Dolphins “will not” draft linebackers just because Parcells likes linebackers early. The team is in “dire” straights for a cornerback since Andre Goodman left for the Denver Broncos. The team wants to get younger at cornerback. Cornerback was a weakness. Now Buffalo has Terrell Owens. I’ve been screaming for a cornerback, yet it’s unbelievable how many draft boards have stated Miami reaching for a outside/inside linebacker. Why did they outbid many other teams for the services of Cameron Wake from the Canadian Football League? Wake has been recognized by some beat writers similar to a third round draft choice. I’ve seen this guy play in the Canadian league and he was one of the most dominant forces the CFL has seen in years. No, they won’t go after English or Matthews in the first round. Or, Laurinitis. They will go after a player like Alphonso Smith, D.J. Moore, Jairus Byrd or Sean Smith. Then they will likely follow with a receiver early or later in the second round pending upon whom, and what value is available. Personally, I like Brian Robiskie or Juaquin Iglesias. The team needs a large possession-type target to get the ball to. Kenny Britt would be another receiver that comes to mind. Other needs include nose tackle (Ron Brace), inside linebacker and interior offensive line. Thanks!!!

Hunter,
You are crazy considering Houston Nutt a big game coach.
He gets conservative when the stakes are high!!
He DID NOT bring the wildcat package in it was Gus Mazahan’s offense!
All Houston ever did was take credit for good things and no responsiblity for the bad!
Good Luck Ole Miss

Thanks for considering Cal–not many people do.

Unfortunately, you’re probably right about the 50-1. In fact, it’s probably closer to a million to one–but we’ll keep on hoping.

Hunter,

Get your facts straight before bashing Bama about not being worthy enough to be in the top 5. Let’s consider your aruguments first! #! G. Mac will not be good enough of a passer in the SEC. Wait, did you say passer?!? If you have never watched a game, WE RUN THE BALL 80 %! Oh yeah, McElwain makes our offense passer friendly with the short tight end out and with an occasional 20-30 year pass to Julio. Finally, you said we will be hurt by Johnson (don’t get me wrong he was a great leader), but think about what the large percentage of the teams we play do… RUN THE BALL!!!! If teams could not run on Bama last year then it will definitely not happen this year with our front seven! Finally, NEVER I mean NEVER count out Saban.

Hunter – A wise man once said, “Opinions are like A-holes, everybody has one and everybody else’s stinks.” I am a Crimson Tide fan so I think your post on CFN stinks. But who cares. Hang in there and hope for a great cfb season.

MFT1284 June 19, 2009 at 12:29 PM

Let me just start this off by saying you are dead wrong about the Tide. Alabama has reloaded with some great players. Andre was great, but DJ Fluker is bigger, stronger, and faster than Andre was as a senior. Valchos will be steady at center, and with Carpenter in the O-line, this O-line will be better than last years. GMac will be better than expected at QB, because our running game is gonna be off the hook with Trent leading the way. Our defense is bigger stronger, and faster this year with tons of depth. You said we won a lot of close games, and you are right we WON them, but that is typical SEC football. We will be playing Folrida again, and in case you forgot we were winning in the 4th quarter against them. We will have a pass rush this year we didn’t have last year, and the run defense will be the best in the country. Alabama has one area of concern, and that is our kicking game. So before you print your opinion, do your homework!!! Bama will be in a major BCS game.

Michael Gunner June 25, 2009 at 12:10 AM

Although the Magnolia Bowl will be played in Oxford, Ole Miss isn’t exactly a feared team down in Baton Rouge.

Q: 5 Thoughts on the Big 12.

A: Wish I could say something about an actual team or division, but when the league’s coaches voted (on May 6) to KEEP the same tiebreaker system that depends on the ultra-politicized and ever-subjective BCS, well….. (sigh)…. one is left to wonder why people in power make such stupid decisions, over and over and over again. There are no words.

Hunter Ansley, Publisher, DraftZoo.com

-I would say that using the BCS as the 4th (5th?) tie breaker is a good idea mainly because you would want your highest ranked team in the Big XII Championship for a spot in the National Championship. For example, say Texas loses all their non conference games, but end up in the same three way tie for the conference like it did this past year. Would you want them in the Big XII title game, or an Oklahoma or Tech team that still has a shot at the National Title game? I think using the BCS is a pretty good idea from that stand point. Sinec the inception of the BCS, the Big XII Chamionship has, in part, decided a participant of the National Championship. Just my opinion.

Raul,

My answer was incorrectly posted on CFN. Matt Zemek’s answer apparently was posted under my name the first time. I believe the problem has been fixed. Check out the site if you would like to see my real answer: http://cfn.scout.com/2/878844.html

Thanks,

Hunter

5 Thoughts on the Big Ten

OSU shared the conference crown last year.

Kevin,

I think you read Matt Zemek’s answer and thought it was mine. My answer is below my name, not above it.

have ya made any bowl projections yet? just curious, since most of the news media websites have…hey, even I have. and of course, mine make more sense than theirs- no rematches of regular season games, no one back at the same bowl as last season, etc., etc. so…are ya curious?

Bill Ross January 23, 2010 at 7:49 AM

Hunter, can you give commentors the ability to edit their posts for say 10 to 15 minutes (or add a spell checker to the post box) …my spelling and sometimes (my memory) are terrible

Paul Noga March 1, 2010 at 7:35 PM

RB Matthews hit a home run in the Combine. It was not his speed and measured stats, but his great flexibility, balance, and fluidity. He will be the Chargers #1 pick.

Gary March 16, 2010 at 6:50 PM

Detroit didn’t trade 5th rounders with Atlanta as you show ???

Billy Wallace April 8, 2010 at 12:42 PM

Is it true that Josh McDaniel’s favorite player of all time is Icky Woods and that he is considering in signing him just to teach his team the Icky Shuffle?
