WIDE RECEIVERS
01.) AJ Green, Georgia, 6-04 208, 4.52*
Green’s got great length and leaping ability to go along with soft hands and good vision. He comes from a pro-style offense, which helps his route-running and his timing. He could stand to add a little bulk, but not if it hurts his speed. His production has been great in his first two years.
2010 NFL Draft Doppelganger: Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State
02.) Julio Jones, Alabama, 6-04 212, 4.49*
Jones looks like a cyborg on the field. He’s got a strong build and giant hands. His speed is elite for his size, and his power as a runner and as a plucker make him an amazing red zone target. He’s got pro-system roots, but he needs to cut out the drops and find some more consistency.
2010 NFL Draft Doppelganger: Arrelious Benn, Illinois
03.) Michael Floyd, Notre Dame, 6-03 220, 4.52*
Floyd has battled injuries his entire career, but there’s no denying his talent and ability to high-point the ball. He’s got great ball skills and is a strong plucker. But he has to stay healthy to earn a lofty draft spot. He’ll be the unquestioned number one in South Bend this year.
2010 NFL Draft Doppelganger: Eric Decker, Minnesota
04.) Ryan Broyles, Oklahoma, 5-11 178, 4.46*
Broyles is this year’s Golden Tate. In a class full of Ralph Sampsons, he’s the little guy. But he’s got great quickness, top vision after the catch, and enough speed to run deep. He developed quite a chemistry with Landry Jones last season grabbing 89 passes, 15 for scores.
2010 NFL Draft Doppelganger: Golden Tate, Notre Dame
05.) Terrance Toliver, LSU, 6-04 206, 4.52
Toliver is still raw, and that’s not great considering how long he’s been an option in LSU. But it’s hard to blame him considering the spotty quarterback play of late in Baton Rouge. Still, he’s got great size, excellent open-field elusiveness, and like all LSU receivers he’s strong. His time as the number one option will say a lot about his draft stock.
2010 NFL Draft Doppelganger: Brandon Lafell, LSU
06.) Jonathan Baldwin, Pitt, 6-05 225, 4.54*
Baldwin is a guy that many are high on, but I’m not sold. He’s a big receiver making a living by out-sizing the secondaries he faces. That won’t be as easy at the next level. I think he lacks top-level explosiveness, and he can lose focus at times. He’s got great upside, and is a hard-working kid, but he’s got a lot of work to do.
2010 NFL Draft Doppelganger: Deymarius Thomas, Georgia Tech
07.) Austin Pettis, Boise State, 6-03 202, 4.54
Pettis is a guy that could really rise this season. He’s an injury risk, but when healthy there’s no denying his ability to overpower a secondary. It’s tough to ignore a fractured leg, but Pettis is prototypical in a lot of ways, and his 14 scores in limited duty are impressive.
2010 NFL Draft Doppelganger: Riley Cooper, Florida
08.) James Rodgers, Oregon State, 5-07 185, 4.42
The token mighty-mite in this class, Rodgers plays much bigger than his size. He’s a consummate playmaker who’s at his best when the game is in the clutch. He’ll need to work to break in a new passer this season, but he’ll remain the go-to guy in Corvallis, and his speed and quickness make him a serious underneath threat in the NFL. Good, soft hands.
2010 NFL Draft Doppelganger: Andre Roberts, Citadel
09.) Armon Binns, Cincinnati, 6-04 200, 4.54
Binns is raw. There’s no denying that. But his physical tools are intriguing. He’s got great length and nice speed for his size. He’s been in the shadow of Mardy Gilyard for a while, but he’ll get his chance in the spotlight in 2010. Of course, he scored 11 times last season, so he’s more proven than most think.
2010 NFL Draft Doppelganger: Carlton Mitchell, South Florida
10.) Vincent Brown, San Diego State, 6-00 182, 4.49
Brown is a small-school guy that has flown under the radar to this point, but he’ll generate some draft buzz this season, and he looks like a guy that could really impress at the combine. He’s quick, but has better true speed than a lot of pass-catchers. He put up 778 yards in only seven games last season due to a thumb injury.
2010 NFL Draft Doppelganger: Mardy Gilyard, Cincinnati
11.) Devier Posey, Ohio State*
12.) Jerrel Jernigan, Troy
13.) Dyrell Roberts, Virginia Tech*
14.) DeAndre Brown, Southern Miss*
15.) Leonard Hankerson, Miami
16.) Ronald Johnson, USC
17.) Greg Little, UNC
18.) Titus Young, Boise State
19.) Greg Salas, Hawaii
20.) OJ Murdock, Fort Hays State
21.) Niles Paul, Nebraska
22.) Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, Iowa
23.) James Cleveland, Houston
24.) Ryan Whalen, Stanford
25.) Jimmy Young, TCU
